The world's first quantum current transformer has been put into operation in Hefei

    "The transformer is operating normally, the current measurement result is 236.5 amps, and the 240-hour trial operation is a complete success!" On September 10, the world's first quantum current transformer operated in the 110 kV underwater circuit transformer network in Hefei, marking the first step in the application of quantum precision measurement technology in the power industry.


       The transformer is a new type of current transformer based on quantum precision measurement, which has many advantages such as high measurement accuracy, good linearity, low insulation requirements, small equipment size, etc. By controlling and measuring the change of electronic energy level in the magnetic field, the current measurement accuracy has exceeded the classical method.


       In addition, the traditional transformer adopts iron core structure, which is prone to magnetic saturation problem in the high current measurement scene. The new quantum current transformer solves this problem from the measurement principle. At the same time, because there is no need to access the electrical circuit, the insulation requirements for the transformer are greatly reduced. In the future, it is also expected to solve the problem of UHV DC measurement, and has broad industrial prospects in the fields of AC-DC power transmission and transformation engineering and measurement standard traceability.


       In recent years, State Grid Power has given full play to the advantages of Hefei's "quantum center" location and cooperated deeply with the academician team of the University of Science and Technology of China to take the lead in exploring the application of quantum precision measurement in the power industry in China, breaking through technical problems such as quantum sensor miniaturization, efficient quantum control, high-speed signal acquisition circuit design, etc. A new type of quantum current transformer, electric quantum non-destructive testing device and other technical equipment have been developed, and the original innovation from 0 to 1 has been realized. The relevant achievements were selected in the first national quantum Industry Conference, and won the first prize of the SASAC Central Enterprise Yi Star Competition.


       Quantum precision measurement is a subversive technological innovation that has an impact on the traditional measurement system, and is also the key direction of the layout of the national "14th Five-Year Plan" and national metrological planning. At present, State Grid Power is accelerating the construction of the first domestic power quantum sensing laboratory, the next step will continue to aim at quantum intelligent measurement, quantum state detection, quantum sensors and other directions, continue to develop the "new blue ocean" of power quantum precision measurement, and strive to achieve more high-quality and original scientific and technological achievements, to create a "State Grid business card" in the field of quantum science and technology.
